Tara Wolff

Discovery Guide

Tara is a trained educator from Perth with experience in Montessori, forest school, and other independent learning environments. Her deep love of literature, art, and nature shapes the way she guides each day in the studio. Passionate about learner-driven education, she helps children grow with confidence, curiosity, and care. With warmth and kindness, Tara cultivates a space where learning feels both joyful and meaningful—encouraging every child to explore their world and take ownership of their journey.

Ipshi Rafique

Head of School, Discovery Guide

Ipshi has organized and facilitated educational experiences for children and families across Lanark County and West Ottawa for many years. Originally from Mississauga, she now lives in Beckwith, where her passion for creating meaningful learning environments continues to grow. Motivated by a desire to offer her own children—and others in her community—the best possible education, she guides with a balance of joy and rigour, always steering the ship toward a truly learner-driven school. Ipshi’s leadership reflects both her deep care for children and her belief that learning should be purposeful, self-directed, and full of wonder.

Meet the Founders

Hi, I’m Ipshi and I’m honored to be creating Acton Academy Lanark for my family and for our community in Lanark County, Ontario.

My journey began unexpectedly. When my husband passed away suddenly in 2024, it became even more important to me to give my children a foundation for a meaningful, joyful life. I wanted to give them the absolute best environment I could—where they could be curious, courageous, and prepared to follow their calling.

The search for that environment led me to Acton Academy. Here was a model that empowers children to dream boldly, nurture their unique talents, and grow in both skill and character. It was exactly what I had been seeking. And what I know many other parents are also looking for.

I know there is a need. Through Curious Community—the network I founded for over 200 families in Lanark County and west Ottawa—I have heard many parents express their desire for something beyond the conventional system. So I am channeling my experience as an entrepreneur and community organizer, combining it with the love I have for my children and community, to build Acton Academy Lanark.
